---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Consultations and Surveys
From the EHRC website: If you have been harassed because of your disability, or someone close to you has been affected, we want to hear about your experience. We want to hear from anyone who has been harassed and from organisations that work for/with them, including voluntary and community sector organisations, public authorities (such as local councils, police, housing, social services and education) and public transport operators. The deadline for providing evidence is Friday 10th September 2010.
A survey conducted by the SHRC – Clare Whitfield The following request has been sent to Inclusion Scotland by Clare Whitfield and Professor Gary Craig at Hull University: We have been asked by the Scottish Human Rights Commission (SHRC) to help build a database of all organisations in Scotland which are working to help or support vulnerable people in all sectors and in all parts of the country. We are determined to be as inclusive as possible. This database will help the Commission to develop research, policy and action in the field of human rights and identify gaps in current provision. It will also enable the Commission to consult appropriately over future developments in human rights in Scotland. We have been given considerable help by the SCVO in this exercise but this is a survey conducted by the SHRC and not by the SCVO so any queries should be directed to Clare Whitfield, on behalf of the SHRC, at the email address below. We would be grateful if you would complete the short questionnaire (Please email Clare Whitfield for a questionnaire c.whitfield@hull.ac.uk) It should take no more than five minutes. Please then return it to Clare Whitfield at the email address above. To ensure that this reaches as many organisations as possible we would also be very grateful if you could forward to any other organisations you may have in your geographical, policy or service area or as partners, user groups, members, or affiliates and encourage them to respond to us. We are particularly anxious that we reach smaller community, neighbourhood and support organisations. We are working to gather all the responses by July 31. If you have any queries about this work, please contact: pAt the Commission: Alison.Hosie@scottishhumanrights.comAt the research team: Gary.Craig@durham.ac.uk If you want to find out more about the Commission please visit: www.scottishhumanrights.com Thank you very much in advance for your help. If you receive more than one copy of this, we apologise. We are attempting to ensure we reach all relevant groups by a variety of routes. Professor Gary Craig

A Celebration Of Faith Through Music Thursday the 12 August 7pm-9.30pm.
This popular event moves from Glasgow to Edinburgh for the first time. Venue. St Columba’s, 14 Johnston Terrace. Tickets £3 for Adults, £2 Concession. This is a unique event which brings the main faith traditions together to express their commitment and love for their faith though music. It brings together people from all cultures and backgrounds and promotes peace, dialogue, understanding, love and friendship. At a time when there are often conflicts between cultures and races across the Globe it is wonderful to create an opportunity for people to cast their differences aside and to find common ground. The evening features five artists. It starts with the velvet tones of the Bollywood Singer Sai who will be performing songs from his native Islamic tradition and much more. This is followed by one of Scotland’s most up and coming musicians Davinder Nahar best known for his tabla playing singing Hindu devotional songs. We then have the Christian group Awaken led by Mark Cameron performing many of their own self penned songs. The amazing Buddhist Sitar player Al Kerr will then take the floor before we end the night with the talented Jewish singer Stephanie Brickman who is best known for bringing Jazz and folk music together through the Yiddish language.
Please come along and support what is a worthy cause with all profits from the evening going towards FISCAF a charity helping to fight poverty across the whole of Scotland.
Tickets are available from the Mission and Discipleship office on 0131 2255722 or for further information email Iain Stewart (Church of Scotland Inter-Faith Worker) at istewart@cofscotland.org.uk
