Vehicle Builders and Repairers Association Ltd (VBRA)

Vehicle Builders and Repairers Association Ltd (VBRA)

Peter Lyne, DMFed Vice-President, has recently agreed a deal with VBRA, to allow their participating dealerships to advertise their participation with the DMF, by displaying a DMF badge in or at their place of business. The VBRA is a leading and long established trade association in the vehicle damage and repair field. Like most vehicle repair shops VBRA repairers normally use a loan car system while your car is in for repair, however, VBRA realise that these may not be adapted for a disabled persons needs. Because of this all participating franchises have agreed to prioritise customers recommended by the DMF, who have adapted vehicles, to get them turned around as quickly as possible.

Finally, VBRA have in their press release, stated the following:-

  • The probability that they will operate a collection and delivery service (where they feel it is appropriate)
  • They demonstrate a willingness to deal with the disabled motorist without any form of discrimination.
  • The ability for SMART style repairs to be carried out on site. (Certainly by smart repairers as well as by some full service body shops).

Two other things that you should be aware of :-
*    Any complaints you may have should be taken up with the repairer concerned as the DMF and VBRA can't take responsibility. Having said that I am sure that both we and the VBRA would be very keen to know of any problems!
This deal is not just for DMF members as we appreciate that many of these will be driving Motability vehicles. Those on Motabilty contracts should, in the case of an accident always put their claim through Motability as per your contract. However, this is available to friends and family of members or readers of 'The Way Ahead'.

If a Motability customer, then getting a SMART style repairer to have a look at your scratch or minor damage could save you your £75 excess and keep your discretionary £200 non claim during lease, alive and well.
Should you wish to know more about this deal, or to get a repair carried out please contact the Hon. Sec. Mr John Killick or our Vice President Mr. Peter Lyne who will make the necessary arrangements with VBRA for you.
