14 May 2010 People shaping health and social care
In this week’s issue:
As we enter a new era with a new government, National Voices has welcomed the new Secretary of State for Health, Andrew Lansley, and set out the headline issues that we must address to put patients and families at the heart of decisions around health and social care.
Meanwhile, Mr Lansley has discussed the scale of the changes facing the NHS in an interview on Radio 4's Today programme, hinting at efficiency savings beyond the much discussed £20billion figure. But he also said the budget would be rising above inflation in the coming years.
The challenges ahead of us are great, however, there are also many opportunities in both health and social care and we look forward to taking these forward with members and partners over the weeks and months to come.
Best wishes,
Jules Acton Director of Engagement & Membership
