IS YOUR DEAFNESS DUE TO YOUR WORKING IN A NOISY ENVIRONMENT?

Hearing loss has many different symptoms. These include ringing in the ears and difficulty hearing others speak. It tends to be noticed when someone comments on it eg. telling you that the TV is on too loud or becoming frustrated with you because you are not responding.

If any of these symptoms apply to you, a former colleague or any member of your family, you may all be entitled to claim for compensation.

One of the Disabled Motorists Federation’s business partners have a specialist legal department dealing with claims relating to Industrial Disease. Their specialist solicitors can help you make a claim in a clear and easy to understand process of obtaining compensation.

WHAT AMOUNTS TO HAZARDOUS NOISE?

Industrial deafness is caused by excessively loud noise working environments. Currently the law dictates that noise levels are harzadous if they exceed 85decibels (db) over an 8 hour working day.

According to a research carried out by the Medical Research Council in 1997/1998, in excess of half a million people were believed to suffer from a hearing loss due to working in a noisy environment. It is now estimated that 1 million people receive daily personal noise expose above 85 decibels (db) of which 170,000 people suffer deafness or tinnitus as a result.
