Fire in the Home
It is some time since we reminded members that, in the UK, your local fire department has a policy of providing free advice and, if needed, free smoke alarms to all those who ask for them. They even install those alarms for you free!
Now, like me, you may have done many courses on this subject during your time with HM armed services and think you have it all cracked. You are probably wrong! I was! Now, firemen might like doing the job they have been trained to do, i.e. putting out fires, but I don’t know of any who enjoy pulling well cooked bodies out of the remains! Besides, I can’t afford to lose members that way! So if you haven’t had your house checked by your fire service, then contact your local station and ask them to send out a nice handsome fireman, or if like me your preference may be for a pretty one, then the advice is free, I repeat, free. So please, for your own safety, see to it today and contact your local Fire Service.
For those living outside the UK or in the Isle of Man or Channel Islands, things may be different, but I expect they have a similar system in place, please contact your fire service and let me know so that I can tell everyone else.
