BRAKE - Stopping the carnage | Caring for the victims

30th March 2011

I'm writing to inform you that unfortunately, due to the severe public spending cuts that are taking place, the Department for Transport has been unable to commit to sponsoring this year’s national Road Safety Week (21st – 27th Nov). As  you’ll be aware, national Road Safety Week is our flagship annual event aimed at raising awareness about road safety. This year’s theme for RSW is ‘Too Young To die’ and we’ll be concentrating our campaign on the most dangerous age group of 17-24 year olds.

As a result of the DFT dropping out, we are now looking for sponsorship from companies and public sector organisations to help us coordinate 11 media launches in major cities throughout the UK. Traditionally, we have managed to raise many hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of TV, radio and press coverage at these events and we hope to break last year’s record coverage of 19 national, 553 regional and 26 specialist/trade media outlets.

We are asking companies for £2,500 and in return you will receive the following benefits:

·         Press Release with supportive quotes from Brake endorsing the sponsor sent to a regional news distribution list

·         Joint spacing on RSW banners and t-shirts warn by the Brake representatives attending the launch itself – some of whom will be giving TV interviews

·         Free click through web-banner on the RSW website (worth £750)

·         Free corporate donorship status worth £1,000+ VAT.

Not only this, as a sponsor of a regional media launch, you will be helping to save national Road Safety Week in what has been a tremendously difficult year for all those individuals and organisations involved in road safety.

If you need any more information, or if you’d like to discuss this email in further detail, then please do not hesitate to contact me.  I can be reached via email jhickman@brake.org.uk or my direct line is 01484 55 00 64. Please note, these opportunities are being offered on a first come, first serve basis so if it is of interest please do get in touch.

I hope to welcome you on board as supporters of Road Safety Week 2011.

Many thanks & Best Wishes

Joel
